This is my favorite item I've made using polymer clay. This chinese dragon is a 3-D relief on the flat red background, with the gold-color frame. This was my second chinese dragon brooch attempt, as the first attempt ended up being so big, it was more belt buckle size than brooch size. Lots of detail work. I like making pins and brooches. The possibilities are amazing to me.
And this is just exquisite. It's so bold and detailed, it looks like it belongs on an Empress's silken sash. (or, due to size, on her bodyguard's belt *laugh*)
The photo is larger than the actual brooch. The brooch is about 3" high, by 2 1/2" wide. I went for zoom on the photo to get details. Now, if I ever finish the first chinese dragon pin/brooch/belt buckle...well, that puppy will be at least 5 to 6" wide. Yikes.
Thank you! This was the first time I tried something like this with polymer clay. I thought I was going to lose my mind while I was making the dragon part of the brooch, but I'm happy with the end result.
This is really quite beautiful.
The detail rocks, but I think I like it because it's unique.
I haven't seen anything like this, you're really combining Oriental aesthetics
with something very different - brooch making.
I'd SO wear it.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
